SOLVAir Select SS Sodium Sulfite

SOLVAir Select SS sodium sulfite is used in a proprietary process developed by Codan and marketed by URS.

Select SS targets SO₃ specifically in flue gases, and is a low cost alternative to sodium bisulfite solution, which is also used in this process.

SO₃, a particularly noxious pollutant, is formed when high sulfur coal is used in the burner, and it is also produced when SCRs are used to control NO_x in many coal-burning generating stations.

SO₃ can be noticed for miles in the form of a tail or blue plume exiting the stack. The plume is transient as certain weather conditions make it more noticeable.

While in many states, SO₃ is not yet regulated, as more limits are placed on condensable matter, it will come under considerable scrutiny.
